All in the Family
The discovery of a woman’s skeleton beside a motorway triggers a chain of events leading police to Dorothy Atkins, the uncooperative resident of a care home, who has served many years in prison for killing her mother-in-law. Ronald, Dorothy’s ex-husband and Hedley, her son, are equally unwilling to assist. The fourth member of the family, Bryony, apparently vanished many years previously. What happened to Bryony? Is the skeleton hers and, if so, was she murdered? Peter Prance, a confidence trickster who becomes Hedley’s lover as a prelude to blackmailing him, thinks he knows the answer, but is he correct? As the police dig deeper, they begin to realise that nothing is as it seems, including the reliability of Dorothy’s conviction for murder.
In the Family is the debut novel in the DI Yates series.
